Who holds information

Find an Accountant NZ (findanaccountant.nz) is published by Backroom Ops, Hamilton. For a privacy request, email hello@backroomops.co.nz. This page explains cookies, Google Analytics 4, Google advertising, and how the Privacy Act 2020 applies.

What this site holds

Listings use public business details taken from each firm's own website: name, address, phone, the services it lists, published fees, and the number of accountants it names. This site does not take bookings or enquiries for firms and does not ask about your legal or financial matter.

If you email us or use the “Add your firm” form, we hold what you send so we can reply and check a listing. We do not sell that information.

Google Analytics 4

This site is connected to Google Analytics 4, measurement ID G-CCB3CF5ZQK. Every page loads Google's tag. A page view sends Google the page address and title, the site you came from, and general information about your browser, device and approximate location. It is not used to collect your name or details of your matter.

A click on a firm's website or phone link is sent as an event named firm_click, with the firm page name, the kind of link and the page you were on. A click on the Backroom Ops box is sent as owner_cta, and a click on the add-your-firm link as add_firm. None of these includes your name.

Google signals

Google Analytics on this site has Google signals turned on. For visitors who are signed in to a Google account and have turned on Ads Personalisation, Google associates visit data with that account so we can see aggregated, anonymous reports such as age ranges, interests and visits across devices. We see only totals, never who you are, and we do not use these reports to target ads based on legal, financial or other sensitive matters. You control this in your Google account at My Ad Center and My Activity.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. Google Analytics 4 sets first-party cookies, usually named _ga and _ga_CCB3CF5ZQK, so it can recognise a returning browser. Google AdSense, which serves the ads on these pages, may set its own advertising cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser; the directory still works.

Google ads

Pages include Google AdSense (publisher ca-pub-9781689220471996). Google and its partners use cookies to serve and measure ads, including ads based on your earlier visits to this site and other sites. An ad is not an endorsement of a firm, and no firm pays to be listed, ordered or badged. Google explains how it uses information from sites that show its ads at policies.google.com.

How to opt out

To opt out of personalised Google ads, use Google's ads settings. To stop this browser sending data to Google Analytics, install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, or block analytics cookies in your browser.

Privacy Act 2020

Under the Privacy Act 2020, Backroom Ops is the agency for personal information you send us. We use it only to answer you and to keep listings accurate. Page-view and click information is sent to Google, which processes it outside New Zealand. You can ask for access to, or correction of, personal information we hold about you by emailing hello@backroomops.co.nz. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
